Static Routing is
typically used in hosts Enter subnet mask, router (gateway), IP address Perfect
for cases with few connections, doesn’t change much. Specifies network address
and subnet mask of remote network, and IP address of next hop router or exit interface.
Static Routing is Easy
to configure and Easier for administrator to understand.
A static routeincludes the network address and subnet mask of the remote network, along with
the IP address of the next-hop router or exit interface. Static routes should
be used in a large network is configured in a hub-and-spoke topology, a network
is connected to the Internet only through a single ISP, a network consists of
only a few routers.
The static routing
method requires someone to hand-type all network locations into the routing
table. The network administrator manually enters the routing information in the
router. The static routing is used to test a particular link in a
network.
Drawback for Static
Routing is a network consists of only a few routers and requires complete
knowledge of the whole network for proper implementation and does not scale
well with growing networks.
